The Oral History Network of Ireland (OHNI) is pleased to announce its 2017 conference on the theme of ‘Work & Leisure’. This two day conference will take place in the Connacht Hotel, Dublin Road, Galway on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th June.

This year’s theme focuses on the role of work and leisure. Our objective is to bring together individual oral history collectors, local community groups, curators, archivists, academics and policy practitioners to encourage lively discussion across the broad spectrum of oral history. Conference contributions are welcome in a range of formats. For full details of our Call for Papers and how to submit a proposal to us, please click here.


This year we invite attendees to participate in our three discussion-based workshops. Please note that Workshops A and B will run concurrently on Friday morning, so please select which one you would like to attend. Workshop C will be held on Saturday morning. Spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Spaces for these workshops are limited, and so reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis.

Fee Waiver Scholarships

This year we will offer two fee waiver scholarship places for our conference. You can apply for one of the places by downloading the form here – Scholarship application form. Completed forms and any applicant queries should be directed to info@oralhistorynetworkireland.ie. The deadline for applications is 5 May.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancelled registrations notified before 26th May 2017 will be fully refunded. Cancelled registrations notified before 9th June 2017 will receive a 50% refund. Thereafter no refunds will be available. Thank you.
